So,
in which Novels were you passengers?
Which Poems
were the sponsors of your trips?
Which Pieces of
Art were your omnibuses to other lands?
Which Musical
Parts took you to a journey?
Which Performances
became think-signs in your map?
Which Constructions
have shown you the destination?
Which
Think off, get inspired and «construct»YOUR
Bridge.!!!!
One of the practices of Literature is the dérive -
literally «drifting» - in the unknown, unfamiliar or just not yet discovered
Cities. Supposing that writers’
subjective eyewitnessings are as infinate as the readers and taking into
consideration the numbers confirming the readers’ pleasure in travelling
through literature, we
may strongly argue that Literature draws up an alternative cities’ map. Undoudtedly this involves the writers’
playful-constructive behavior and the readers’ awareness in tasting a blend of
real and imagined shape of Cities.
This
- the opportunity of practicing a dérive while remaining on a sofa - is
a Bridge. To be specific, this is just
one Bridge. And if we want to play this
great game called Bridging Cities across
Europe, we have to add the Bridges that Performing Arts, Theatre, Music, Dance, Painting, Photography, Architecture etc., are constructing between
and on behalf of the cities.
«By
asking the passerby, you will eventually get to the city», says a greek proverb. So, at
the beginning, we are willing to ask questions such as, in which Novels were
you passengers? Which Poems were the sponsors of your
trip? Which Pieces of Art were your omnibuses to other lands? Which Musical Parts took you to a
journey? Which Performances became think-signs in your map? Which Constructions have
shown you the destination?
Then,
while fishing for replies, we are planning to organise roadworks, exhibitions,
performances or playful events. And
thus, by practicing «dérives» in
unfamiliar attitudes and different lifestyles, in colours and materials
reflecting the terrain and the encounters, in modern techniques of construction
and in sounds we might end up with á contemporary cities’ map!
