EXTRACT FROM THE COMMITTEE’S REPORT ON THE AWARDING OF THE MARIA RALLI PRIZE FOR THE BEST FIRST PUBLISHED AUTHOR, 1997.

“…the committee…was impressed by the novel’s literary virtues, its refreshingly fast-paced and inspired style, its knowledgeable use of language and the way this chimed with the book’s subject-matter, the skill with which the lives of a group of young people were woven into a fiction, and the personal, inspired, impressionistic descriptions of the celebrated cities of Europe. The Committee was therefore of the opinion that this book, more than any other work by a first-published author in 1997, constitutes a firm guarantee of its creator’s continued development”.
